The Pickled Frog

281 Liverpool St, Hobart

We've travelled the world - and we're still travelling the world. We know what we love in travellers' accommodation and that's what we do here.

There's heaps of space to meet others or to find a corner on your own. We've got free wifi to catch up on all that's important and computers if you dont have your own.

The staff will help with anything and are all locals that know the place backwards. They even provide FREE trips up Mt Wellington for some spectacular views and great walks.

Hobart is like no other capital city in Australia - waterfront and surrounded by mountains and forests.

“Good communal space, but kitchen and rooms are lacking!”

I stayed a couple of times during a week long visit to Tasmania. The communal space was really good with a TV area and plenty of good booth seating for eating and drinking. The atmosphere could have...

I loved my 3 night stay at the 'frog'. My room was clean and i slept well each night, my sleep may have been helped by the tasty local beers at the bar. This hostel has true character and such a...

“Bed Bugs...”

I find it very unfortunate that I have to write this review. I travelled to Hobart for the weekend with 7 friends and stayed in the Pickled Frog in an 8 person room. When we got there, the staff...

281 Liverpool St Hobart

The airport is about 20 km out of town and there are two public transport options for making the journey to Hobart:

1. Airport Bus Service - In front of the airport terminal there will be a great big bus that will drop you at any Hobart accommodation. It costs $17 one way. Little airport - big bus - can't miss it.

2. Catch a Taxi - This will cost about $45 dollars but if there's a few of you its good value.

Walk down Elizabeth St (toward the mall) and turn right at Liverpool St (where the mall starts). Walk 5 minutes up Liverpool St - 20 steps past Barrack St intersection.

Head to the closest intersection (Liverpool & Barrack Streets) and look diagonally across the road - there should be a large, green building. You're there - and it took 30 seconds. If the building is not there, we'll send you a postcard and could you please feed the cat while we're away.

If for any reason you cant make your booking please call us as soon as is practicable.
The first night's fare will be charged for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice.
